Ivanna Klympush-Tsintsadze: Borrel’s article is clear signal from EU partners that Zelensky did not convince them

The article by the European Union’s High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, Josep Borrell, titled Oligarchs, Corruption and COVID-19: What I Talked About With President Zelensky, published by Yevropeyska Pravda, is a clear and unequivocal signal to Zelensky.

European partners warn the Ukrainian authorities against curtailing reforms to please the oligarchs. This was stated by Ivanna Klympush-Tsintsadze, a People’s Deputy from the European Solidarity faction and chair of the Committee on Ukraine’s Integration with the European Union.

“Josep Borrell’s article is not just an article. This is not even a signal, this is an unequivocal warning. During all my work in the field of European integration, I do not remember a single case when, immediately after the visit, an article was published dedicated to this particular visit, let alone such a diplomatic-critical one. This means that the EU High Representative is not satisfied with your explanations about the oligarchic and legal “lawlessness” taking place in the country,” Klympush-Tsintsadze said.

“This is an attempt to convey that the EU really needs a ‘stable, prosperous and democratic Ukraine,’ but it certainly does not need an oligarchic, corrupt state without the rule of law,” said Ivanna Klympush-Tsintsadze.
