The fifth President of Ukraine and the leader of the European Solidarity Party of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko met with the G7 and EU Ambassadors to Ukraine held under the rotating presidency of the United States.
During the lengthy and fruitful meeting, the sides discussed a variety of issues of mutual interests. They exchanged of views about the results of local elections in Ukraine held on 25 October, 2020. President Poroshenko noted that European Solidarity party has scored a positive outcome in many regions and will be represented in all regional councils all over Ukraine.
Important attention was given to the constitutional crisis that was sparked by the decision of the Constitutional Court of Ukraine on the anti-corruption legislation. The sides agreed that the way out of the crisis shall be found without delays, with all parties to come together in an inclusive dialogue, in respect for the rule of law.
Petro Poroshenko underscored the importance of implementation of the Minsk agreement and thanked the partners for support of Ukraine’s initiative on the international platform of the de-occupation of Crimea.
President Poroshenko also expressed his gratitude for the G7 and EU assistance to Ukraine as regards the fight against Covid-19.
The sides pointed at the necessity of continuation of reforms in the country with a special stress being put on judiciary, the fight against corruption, including the guaranties of independence of the National Anti-Corruption Bureau, as well as the rule of law and freedom of media.
The sides agreed to keep their dialogue ongoing in the best interests of Ukraine and international unity and solidarity with the country.
