Poroshenko demands investigation into why the authorities allowed illegal elections to the State Duma in Ukraine

Conducting illegal elections to the State Duma of the Russian Federation on the territory of Ukraine is unacceptable and requires an investigation by law enforcement agencies. This was stated during a conciliation council by the fifth President and leader of the European Solidarity party Petro Poroshenko.

“I fully support the proposals of most factions, which demand the immediate consideration of a Resolution of the Verkhovna Rada on the non-recognition of elections in Russia in connection with their holding on the territory of the annexed Republic of Crimea. According to the Russian authorities themselves, more than 200,000 Ukrainian citizens of Donbass, who were granted passports, were included, including through the mechanism of electronic voting in these illegal elections, “Poroshenko said.

“But here again we see a policy of double standards. I would like to remind you that during my term of office, on my behalf, it was forbidden to hold fake rigged elections of the Russian Federation on the territory of Ukraine,” the fifth President stated.

“Suddenly, the President’s Office, the authorities, and some representatives of the Servants of the People faction of the parliament, allowed these elections to be held on the territory of consular and diplomatic missions in Ukraine. And how are you now going to appeal to the world community not to recognize these elections, when you allow them to be held by your order? This is a classic example of the behaviour of these “servants”” Petro Poroshenko stated.

“I demand an investigation into how illegal elections were held in Ukraine,” the European Solidarity leader said.
