Putin will fulfil his obligations only when there is a strong and authoritative coalition in front of him – Poroshenko on talks with the Kremlin

Direct talks with Putin without the participation of Ukraine’s allies will lead to Ukraine’s capitulation. This was stated by the fifth President of Ukraine and leader of the European Solidarity Party Petro Poroshenko in an interview with the editor-in-chief of the influential Polish newspaper Gazeta Wyborcza, public figure and dissident Adam Michnik. Poroshenko noted that only a united Ukraine and West can curb Russia’s hybrid aggression.

“From the very beginning, I was opposed to Zelensky meeting with him tete-a-tete. This is a weak position, which will lead to our capitulation. The Normandy format, which emerged in 2014, involves Germany and France, although de facto the whole of the European Union. Berlin and Paris received a mandate from the European Council. We had strong US support when the Americans appointed their special envoy, Kurt Walker, under Trump. And even earlier, for Vice President Joe Biden, Ukraine was the first priority. The EU, the USA and Ukraine worked together and in harmony, “Poroshenko reminded.

“Putin will fulfill his obligations only when a strong, authoritative and powerful coalition sits in front of him,” Petro Poroshenko is convinced.

“Putin’s main goal today is to break up this unity through Nord Stream 2, because there is no consensus on this topic in the EU. And when there is no consensus in the EU, then in real politics the Union does not exist. Serbia receives Russian gas at $ 240 per 1,000 cubic meters, Moldova at $ 450, abandoning a number of important European initiatives. Ukraine currently pays $ 2,000. Is this a market? No, this is blackmail and a corrupt foreign policy which promotes only the “Russian world.” The most important thing for us is for the EU to buy gas through the Russian-Ukrainian border, because this guarantees the absence of corruption schemes and political blackmail, “said the fifth President.

Poroshenko stressed that the instruments of the Kremlin’s hybrid war are migration policy, energy blackmail and interference in elections. “It’s not just about interfering in elections in the United States, Germany, the Netherlands, Austria or Ukraine. Ways to facilitate Russian intervention are simple: they can just introduce electronic voting to make it easier for Russian hackers to call the results. And then lead Zelensky along the path of Yanukovych and Lukashenko, so that he becomes illegitimate. Ukraine needs to draw conclusions from the mistakes of others and not condemn its country to such challenges, “Petro Poroshenko said.
