At a meeting with the delegation of the International Democratic Union, Poroshenko called for speeding up the supply of weapons for the Armed Forces

Ukraine should remain the number one topic for the Free World, Petro Poroshenko said during a meeting at the office of “European Solidarity” with a delegation of the International Democratic Union. He called for strengthening support for Ukraine and sanctions against Russia.

“I am glad to meet with the high-level delegation of the International Democrat Union (International Democrat Union). It was a really honest and sincere conversation. My team and I advocated the acceleration of the transfer of the necessary weapons to Ukraine and the strengthening of devastating sanctions against the Russian economy. Because every such meeting is our strengthening, the strengthening of Ukraine on the international arena and our Armed Forces,” Poroshenko wrote on Facebook.

Poroshenko emphasized: comprehensive support of Ukraine is a reliable investment of the West in common security. “The most effective security guarantees for both Ukraine and the West are full membership of our country in the North Atlantic Alliance as soon as possible,” the fifth President believes.

The former Prime Minister of Slovenia, the leader of the Slovenian Democratic Party, Janez Janša, said that he remembers his visit to Ukraine after the annexation of Crimea. He noted the significant development of the Armed Forces of Ukraine after 2014.

Today we showed the delegations how our team lived and continues to live since last year February 24. How much aid have we sent to the Armed Forces during this time, and we have also introduced our party members who continue to defend our country with weapons in their hands,” says Poroshenko.

“The issues of development and strengthening of democracy, the rule of law, media freedom, stability of state institutions in Ukraine were separately discussed. In this context, we emphasized the importance of refraining from steps that could affect the unity of the state,” Petro Poroshenko emphasizes.

The leader of “European Solidarity” thanked for the support of Ukraine from the partner parties. “With such friends, no one will be able to sow fatigue from Ukraine, because we are all united by one goal – the victory of Ukraine and the Free World,” Poroshenko is convinced.

In December 2022, Petro Poroshenko received the IDU Bush-Thatcher Freedom Award at the International Democratic Union Forum in Washington. In his speech, Poroshenko thanked the people of Ukraine for their courage and called on Western partners to provide more weapons for the Armed Forces – in particular, Patriot air defense systems, jet fighters, F-16s, tanks, Abrams.

According to the results of the Forum, a Resolution in support of Ukraine was also approved. The International Democratic Union has confirmed strong unity and solidarity with the people of Ukraine, who continue to bravely and selflessly fight against Russian aggression, the goal of which is the destruction of the Ukrainian free and democratic society.
