Petro Poroshenko, who is participating in the European Economic Congress in Katowice, Poland, held a meeting with the EU Budget Commissioner Johannes Hahn. The fifth President called on the EU to urgently restore the export of Ukrainian products.
“I started the work program in Katowice with an important meeting with the Commissioner of the European Union, Johannes Hahn. He expressed concern about the development of events regarding the illegal introduction by several neighboring EU member states of a ban on the import of Ukrainian agricultural products. I emphasized the importance of immediately restoring and continuing the regime of trade liberalization and Ukrainian exports to the EU in wartime conditions,” Poroshenko said on Facebook.
Petro Poroshenko emphasizes: Ukraine does not want to ask for financial assistance, Ukraine must be given the opportunity to manufacture and sell its products.
“All prohibitions stop the Ukrainian victory. And this is unacceptable,” the fifth President is convinced.
“We also discussed with the European Commissioner Ukraine’s progress on the path of reforms and the fulfillment of the criteria for starting negotiations on joining the EU by the end of 2023. He spoke about his impressions from the trip to the eastern and southern fronts and conveyed words of thanks from our soldiers to the Western partners for their solidarity and support,” writes Petro Poroshenko.
The 15th European Economic Congress has started in the Polish city of Katowice, during which Petro Poroshenko is scheduled to speak at a session on political, economic support and post-war reconstruction of Ukraine, and participate in a high-level discussion on Ukraine’s place in the security system after the war. A number of bilateral meetings with representatives of European Union and Polish institutions will also take place during the Congress.
The main goal of the fifth President is to strengthen and speed up Western military aid for the liberation of occupied territories, financial and economic support for Ukraine, including solving problems with the export of agricultural products to the EU market, ensuring a positive decision on the start of negotiations on joining the European Union by the end of 2023 year and acceleration of Ukraine’s membership in NATO.
