Member of the European Parliament, Vice-Chair of the Parliamentary Committee of the Ukraine-EU Association, Viola von Cramon, together with Iryna Herashchenko and Maria Ionova, visited Donetsk region. The co-chair of the “European Solidarity” faction, Iryna Gerashchenko, said this on her Telegram channel.
“Few European politicians make it to Donetsk today. And the visits of those who can tell in their own words about the terrible consequences of Russian aggression are all the more important. Together with the member of the European Parliament, Viola von Cramon, they visited Kramatorsk, Slov’yansk, other settlements, talked with several of our military units, which work in the southern directions of Bakhmut and Donetsk,” Gerashchenko writes.
“Explosions are heard constantly 10 km from the front line. The enemy has a lot of missiles, mines, UAVs, our units lack shells and weapons. All units with whom we talked today told the deputy of the European Parliament that this is a war of drones and the Armed Forces of Ukraine need hundreds of times more drones,” the deputy is convinced.
“Our soldiers amaze Europeans with their motivation and ingenuity. They showed how they themselves produce explosive devices that attach to drones – kamikaze – to hit enemy equipment. “Unfortunately, the Russian Federation has a modern, developed electronic communications system, and we also need more help from our partners in this matter,” Gerashchenko writes.
The deputies also congratulated Lida Zednyk on her birthday – she is fighting in the legendary 10th separate mountain assault brigade “Edelweiss”.
“Lida Zednyk is one of the four female servicemen of the motorized infantry battalion of the legendary 10th brigade. She is a communicator. When the war started in 2014, Lida was 12 years old, her brothers and uncle went to the front as volunteers. After the full-scale invasion, Lydia joined the ranks of the Armed Forces to defend the country together with her closest people, who are unconditional authority for her. Today is Lida’s birthday, she is 21! She dreams of Victory, as do all her brothers. We were happy to congratulate Lida,” Gerashchenko writes.
“We talked about weapons, that we need much more of them and we need them now. And when such requests come from the mouths of the military, 10 km from the front, I am sure it will have a greater effect. Until year 2022, Viola visited Donbas several times. She is shocked by the destruction of Kramatorsk and surrounding villages. The European Parliament should know the truth about the genocide that the Russians committed against the Ukrainians,” the head of the faction emphasizes.
