Just like it should have been in the spring of 2022 at the NATO Parliamentary Assembly, where Poroshenko was also not allowed illegally by authorities, as now in Poland and the USA.
Those who are now trying to justify their rejection of the Hungarian track, using Petro Poroshenko’s former contacts with Viktor Orban, are trying in vain. It should be remembered that on December 14-15 in Brussels, the European Council will announce its decision on the start of pre-accession negotiations with Ukraine, where Budapest has the right of veto. If Petro Poroshenko had the opportunity to help, using his own personal positive experience and contacts, to make this decision successful, especially against the background of recent statements, he would have done it. No betrayal. But in the interests of the state. And in close coordination with international partners.
And not only in Budapest, but also in any country of the European Union, where the positions of Ukraine are not so strong or where the official efforts of the authorities do not bring the desired results. And the approach of “it will be solved somehow” has not worked for a long time.
That is why the explanations of the leadership of the parliament, the border guards and the Security Service of Ukraine resemble the bad jokes of the “95th quarter”. Kornienko’s right hand wrote a letter to the left, his mouth referred to the secret knowledge of the SBU, and the SBU clearly explained that it did not write a special letter about Poroshenko, that its remarks concerned all deputies, but the leadership of the parliament did not think of deploying “Servants of the People” at the border. Unlike “Servants of the People”, people’s deputies from “European Solidarity”, who are permanent members of parliamentary assemblies, are systematically not allowed to attend important international events. These are, in particular, the co-chairs of the faction Iryna Gerashchenko, Artur Gerasimov, this is Ivanna Klympush-Tsintsadze, who is the head of the committee on Ukraine’s integration into the EU, this is Oleksii Goncharenko, this is Volodymyr Aryev, Maria Ionova, Iryna Friz.
It is clear to everyone who actually blocked Poroshenko’s important international business trip. But why – it is difficult to understand logically. Disruption of the visit does not harm Poroshenko, but the country, its international image and defense capability. And with such actions, the government undermines internal unity, which today, on the contrary, needs to be strengthened.
