Mykola Knyazhytskyi. An attack on the Suspilne is a symptom of an attack on freedom of speech

The attack on the Suspilne is another symptom of a large-scale attack on freedom of speech. And if the manipulation is picked up by a member of the majority faction, it means a planned attack.

At the meeting of the Humanitarian and Information Policy Committee, he reminded that any attack on the Suspilne is an attempt to disrupt our European integration. Suspilne must be protected.

Should this question be combined with the question of the expediency of the United News Telemarathon? I don’t think so. The simulacrum of freedom of speech in the form of a telethon in the USA was called an example of restrictions on human rights. I fully agree with the assessment of the State Department.

Therefore, we should not legitimize the telemarathon and not associate the activities of the Suspilne with it. These are two different questions.

Suspilne must speak through its channels and receive effective funding. They have a license. No one has forbidden them to use the license.

By chance, I was reminded about the restrictions on the activities of national channels in T2 and offered to appeal to all Ukrainian broadcasters with a reminder about the inadmissibility of political censorship.

Based on the results of the meeting, we will prepare two statements: on the inadmissibility of pressure on the Suspilne and the dissemination of false information about the work of NSTU, as well as on the need to observe freedom of speech and media freedom in Ukraine.
