Petro Poroshenko met with the Group of Friends of Ukraine in the European Parliament in Brussels. “This has become a good tradition during my visits to Brussels. I thank Petras Aushtryavichus for his constant leadership and support of Ukraine within the walls of the representative institution of the EU,” Poroshenko wrote on social networks.
“We marked the beginning of the opening negotiations between Ukraine and the EU, for the success of which we worked for a long time. They also confirmed the importance of the parliamentary component on the way to achieving the relevant criteria and membership in the EU. Important attention was paid to fundamental values, the state of democracy, the rule of law and multi-party parliamentarism as defining elements of Ukraine’s further development and success on the way to the EU,” states the fifth President.
“We also discussed in detail the situation at the front, the critical needs of the Ukrainian army and our joint victory over the aggressor,” writes Poroshenko.
Earlier, during a speech at the Political Assembly of the EPP, Poroshenko named the key elements of the formula for Ukraine’s victory:
- support Ukraine until victory, not until the end.
- Arms to Ukraine – without quantity restrictions, range restrictions and goal restrictions.
- do not be afraid to surprise Putin with creative initiatives.
- sanctions from hell to cut off resources to stop putin’s ability to fund war.
- Ukraine’s membership in the EU and NATO.
- financial assistance to Ukraine to support macroeconomic stability.
- Ukraine will win as a democracy. And that is why the war should not be a reason to slow down or retreat from reforms and the transition to autocracy.
“Ukraine should be among the priorities of the European Commission’s agenda from day one. Commitment to support Ukraine should be one of the key requirements for our new members of the European Parliament. A new delegation of the European Parliament to our parliamentary committee of the Association and the informal group of friends of Ukraine should be formed as soon as possible. Preferably on the first day of work of the European Parliament,” Poroshenko stressed.
“And visit Ukraine. These are very important symbolic steps, please accept our invitation. Our unity and solidarity will save us all, and this is the only way to victory,” summed up the Eurosolidarity leader.
