Iryna Gerashchenko, co-chair of the “European Solidarity” faction, reported that following the results of the summer session of the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly in Bucharest, two resolutions in support of Ukraine were adopted.
“One is the work of the Ukrainian delegation, the other is of our French colleagues, which is particularly important. For the first time, at the PA level, Russia’s actions are recognized as genocide of the Ukrainian people,” the deputy stated.
“Also, the assembly calls for strengthening the protection of displaced persons and providing additional military aid to Ukraine and security guarantees. On the sidelines of the summer session, several important discussions took place, in particular, regarding the fight against Russian disinformation, the fight against human trafficking and the protection of IDPs. The resolutions on environmental protection and victims of sexual crimes in the conflict zone also refer to Russian war crimes and support for Ukraine,” Gerashchenko said.
“The Ukrainian delegation succeeded not only in passing our resolution recognizing the actions of the occupiers as genocidal. The PA supported our amendment condemning the illegal holding of tens of thousands of civilian hostages, including journalists. Both I and my colleagues repeatedly raised the issue of the inhumane conditions of detention of captives by the Russian terrorist regime in our speeches,” Iryna Gerashchenko writes.
“The Assembly is always an important communication with colleagues. They had a lot of meetings with American, German, Belgian, Austrian, Polish colleagues, members of other parliaments, the topic was one – armed and humanitarian support for Ukraine. Thank you to the entire Ukrainian delegation, which from the first day (in a single case) actively joined the work and professionally defended the national interests of Ukraine,” sums up Iryna Gerashchenko.
