At a conference in Budapest, Klympush-Tsintsadze called on Hungary to change its position on supporting Ukraine and unblock aid from the EU

People’s deputy from the “European Solidarity” faction, head of the committee on the integration of Ukraine into the EU, Ivanna Klympush-Tsintsadze, called on the Hungarian presidency of the Council of the European Union to refrain from further actions that undermine the unity of Ukraine, the EU and all international partners. She said this during a speech at the conference of the heads of the Committees for European Affairs of the member states of the European Union and for the European integration of partner countries and candidate countries for EU accession (COSAC) in Hungary.

The head of the committee noted that Ukraine, like the European community in general, appreciates the fact that Hungary considers it important to strengthen European security.

“But let me remind you that European security will not be protected without the support of Ukraine and without stopping Putin. Russia must be removed from the independent state,” said Klympush-Tsintsadze.

She emphasized that peace on Ukrainian soil should be fair, stable, and long-lasting.

“Therefore, any peace initiatives should be based on several principles. The first is that there is nothing about Ukraine without Ukraine. And this is what the Hungarian presidency of the EU Council has violated so far. Peace proposals must be based on international law. Otherwise, it will just be surrender. And then Russia’s attack on any EU country will become inevitable,” said the deputy.

Klympush-Tsintsadze expressed her hope that the Hungarian presidency of the EU Council will refrain from any actions undermining the unity of Ukraine, the EU, and all international partners.

“We also hope that Hungary will change its position on supporting Ukraine and unblock the provision of aid from the EU within the framework of the European Peace Fund. And this is not only for the sake of Ukraine but also for the sake of security in all of Europe,” the head of the committee emphasized.
