The “European Solidarity” faction, on the initiative of Petro Poroshenko, met with the Minister of Defense R.Umerov and the team of the Ministry of Defense as part of the parliamentary control over the executive power – this was reported by the co-chair of the faction Iryna Gerashchenko.
“They discussed the issue of providing for the Armed Forces, the situation with fortifications, procurement, and distribution of UAVs, the need for real countermeasures against corruption and procurement abuse,” Gerashchenko wrote on social media.
“EU” systematically supports the Defense Forces; we were reminded of the promise of the Ministry of Defense to submit a draft law on terms of service, and we are waiting for the document in the parliament. The problem of non-transparent transfer of servicemen to units is very acute, the minister promised specific proposals to solve this problem shortly,” the deputy noted.
The “EU” also insists that the military personal income tax remains for the defense sector; 30% went directly to the units, and 70% – to the Ministry of Defense. “The issue of the quality of UAVs purchased by DSSZHI is acute. We are in favor of the Ministry of Defense being responsible for the procurement of drones, and military standards for procurement should be introduced as soon as possible because we receive many complaints from the military about state drones,” states Iryna Gerashchenko.
“They raised the issue of strengthening the military training of the mobilized and providing them with ammunition and means of protection according to NATO standards,” adds Gerashchenko.
“As for fortifications, today the military has a catastrophic lack of construction equipment, and we propose to redirect 30 billion out of 42 billion of the corrupt road fund to these needs,” said the deputy.
“Our team remains one of the largest volunteers for the front, the Poroshenko Foundation donated drones, ammunition, cars, EW systems, and equipment worth more than UAH 6 billion. We are ready for greater cooperation and coordination of efforts around the support of the Armed Forces, but we insist on the transparency of procurement and provision of the army and the strengthening of parliamentary control,” explains Gerashchenko.
“Thematic meeting, we are waiting for outline results to solve the problems raised,” – summarizes the co-chairman of the faction.
