Petro Poroshenko, who is participating in the 70th session of the NATO Parliamentary Assembly in Canada, met with the Ukrainian community of Montreal. “We came to pray at the Ukrainian Orthodox Cathedral of St. Sophia. Together with the Ukrainian community of Montreal, we asked God for health and blessings for the Ukrainian army and the entire Ukrainian people, who are courageously fighting against the Russian invasion today,” the fifth President wrote on social networks.

“We are living in difficult times: 1,000 days have passed since the full-scale invasion of the 11-year war. Today, everyone in their place is doing their job to bring peace closer: some in military service, some through feats, some through prayer, and some through daily work. Now, in any corner of the globe, no matter where you go, it is difficult not to meet Ukrainians. Sincere, friendly, smiling, and frank – that is how they are in Canada. Their ancestors once fled from hunger to these lands, but most of them have preserved their identity and passed it on to their descendants. It is not for nothing that the Ukrainian diaspora in Canada is considered the largest in the world,” Poroshenko noted.

“Every day they remind Canadians that we are at war. They remind us that Russia is a terrorist country. They tell the world about Russian war crimes. 24/7, we, Ukrainians, must do everything to protect our land,” writes Petro Poroshenko.

“The NATO Parliamentary Assembly begins its work in Montreal. We will do everything possible to ensure that Ukraine receives weapons and permission to use long-range missiles. Because it is impossible to fight with tied hands. Of course, we need the support of Ukrainians all over the world, because the coalition that our partners are creating is a matter of life and death for Ukraine. Do not believe those who are shouting everywhere that victory is very soon, in a matter of weeks. Ukraine is in real danger, it is under threat. Putin does not need Donbas, Crimea, Melitopol, Berdyansk, or Lysychansk separately – he needs all of Ukraine. Without it, there is no Russian empire,” Poroshenko warns.

“We must build Ukraine. We started this process in 2014 because building a state begins with the army, language, and faith. And now two more things are important: joining the European Union and NATO. And so we will achieve peace and Victory. I am grateful for this warm meeting with true Ukrainian hospitality. Ukrainians of Canada, you are incredible!”, writes the fifth President.
