During a meeting of parliamentary faction leaders with the Chairman of the German Christian Democratic Union Friedrich Merz, Petro Poroshenko called on Germany to increase military aid to Ukraine without any restrictions, in particular, to provide Taurus missiles.

“The position of the CDU as a leading member of the European People’s Party and one of the key political forces in the next parliamentary elections in Germany in February 2025 will play a decisive role in shaping the policy of Germany, the EU, and NATO towards Ukraine in the coming years,” Poroshenko noted on Facebook.

The Fifth President called on the CDU leader to take decisive action to support our state in repelling Russian aggression, in particular by providing unlimited military assistance, strengthening air defense, transferring Taurus long-range missiles to Ukraine, and inviting Ukraine to join NATO.
“He stressed the importance of rapid progress on the EU accession negotiations track, which will depend, among other things, on Berlin’s position. He informed the leader of the German sister party within the EPP about the state of democratic processes in Ukraine under martial law,” Petro Poroshenko wrote.
