A thousand days ago, Bankova, without explanation, excluded three independent channels from the T2 system – “Channel 5”, “Espresso,” and “Pryamy.” The co-chair of the “European Solidarity” faction, Iryna Gerashchenko, reminded me about this on social networks.
“The journalistic teams of these TV channels work in the pro-Ukrainian patriotic professional field. Their military corps give the viewer a real picture from the front. Each editorial office has losses in the war – there are mobilized colleagues who died… The authorities cannot make any professional claims to the work of the TV channels, except for one – they are independent of Bankova,” the deputy notes.
“At this time, the oligarchic media, caught up in the so-called marathon, receive generous state funding and in parallel develop their TV channels in the T2 system, broadcasting endless 95th quarter or low-quality series, for which the state also has funds,” notes Gerashchenko.
“The lack of journalistic solidarity is regrettably surprising, even during the time of Yanukovych, media people were not so afraid to talk about injustice and political censorship. The silence of parliamentary factions is no less surprising because political oppression of the media is not bringing us closer to the EU and NATO. The only faction that speaks out about this is “European Solidarity,” states Iryna Gerashchenko.
“Blocking TV channels is a political decision that our international partners have already criticized – in resolutions of the European Parliament and reports of the European Commission and the US State Department. It is time to close the marathon and return all TV channels to T2. “Let the viewer, not Bankov, decide what people want to watch. Military restrictions have nothing to do with political censorship,” Gerashchenko emphasizes.
