“European Solidarity” MPs Met with German Bundestag Speaker

Iryna Gerashchenko, co-chair of the “European Solidarity” faction, and MP Mariia Ionova met with German Bundestag Speaker Julia Klöckner, who arrived in Kyiv on a visit.

“We discussed security issues, pressure on the Russian Federation, strengthening sanctions, and Russia’s accountability for war crimes,” Iryna Gerashchenko reported on social media.

“In a powerful speech at the Verkhovna Rada, she mentioned the genocidal practices of the Russians, the abduction of children, and the sexual crimes committed by the occupiers.

There must be punishment for all of this. We thanked Germany for its leadership in military and humanitarian support for Ukraine. We support the position of German Chancellor Friedrich Merz that the EU must be a participant in peace negotiations because this is about European security,” Gerashchenko noted.

“A separate topic was democracy in times of war. Ukraine must develop as a democracy; reforms and the fight against corruption are critically important for European integration,” the faction co-chair is convinced.

“However, the key focus remains on security issues, pressure on the RF, strengthening sanctions, and Russia’s responsibility for war crimes,” Iryna Gerashchenko summarized.
