60% of Americans support Ukraine, but this must be fought for daily – Iryna Gerashchenko

Co-chair of the “European Solidarity” faction, Iryna Gerashchenko, stated during her visit to the US that support for Ukraine worldwide remains strong. Still, it is not automatic – one must work constantly for it.

From Washington, where a major security conference involving American and European politicians is taking place, Gerashchenko reported on a series of important meetings with congressmen and the expert community.

“Today, the key issue is strengthening support for Ukraine. We critically need missiles and air defense systems, in particular Patriots, to protect the Ukrainian sky,” she emphasized. According to her, more than 60% of Americans support Ukraine, a strategically important resource that cannot be lost.

“We must do everything to ensure that this support not only remains but also grows,” the deputy emphasized. At the same time, she drew attention to an important signal from international partners: support is directly linked to Ukraine’s internal processes.

“Partners say directly: Ukraine must remain a democratic state, with the rule of law and without corruption. And this is a truth that the authorities must hear,” Gerashchenko stated. Separately, she emphasized new challenges: global conflicts are distracting the world’s attention from Ukraine, and therefore, competition for resources and support is only growing. “That is why our presence here is critically important. We must talk about Ukraine, explain, convince, and work with everyone – from politicians to think tanks and media,” she concluded.
